When would I use Markdown GPS? #

I personally have several ways in which I am currently using Markdown GPS.

Visiting a new town and I want to mark a restaurant I wish to visit. #

Wandering around new towns, perhaps abroad. If you see a place you wish to visit again then save the note with Markdown GPS and update it within Obsidian there and then with notes about the place.

Out on a motorcycle trip with fellow bikers and I want to mark a place to revisit #

When I go out on a bike trip it may be with a group of riders where the person leading knows the route. In this case I may be recording the route so that I can follow it another time. However, there are times when see somewhere along the route that I would like to mark to come back to on a later date. This is where I would mark it as I am on the bike with Markdown GPS to record the exact place.

The same applies if I was following my own route to mark a place of interest as I am going along.

Saving where I parked #

This is the obvious use and there are many apps that do this already. But, they generally can only be found again with that same app and not within your general purpose knowledge tool such as Obsidian.
